Crate training is one of the most important skills. So many people struggle with it.
Crate training is undoubtedly one of the most important skills we teach our dogs for their well-being. Yet, so many people struggle with it.
This short course will help you understand everything you need to start crate training your pup today. It's a mini-course, which means it's straight to the point. You'll learn everything it takes to get your dog to enjoy his crate in less than an afternoon (although you'll need to keep practicing)!
Crate training is something that will greatly benefit your dog. It teaches them a lifeskill in the event they are ever hospitalized or need to travel, as well as giving them clear boundaries not to destroy your house.
So many dogs that I've seen in the shelter ended up there because they weren't given structure early on.

Who's teaching you
Robert Cabral has been training dogs professionally for over 20 years.
He did not start in competition. He started in shelters, working with dogs nobody else wanted, dogs that had been written off, dogs whose owners had been told there was nothing left to try.
He was inducted into the IACP International Hall of Fame for his work in shelter advocacy and canine rehabilitation.
His YouTube channel has been followed by over 350,000 people who return because the advice works in the real world. Not in a studio. Not with a trained demo dog. In the real world with real dogs.
“I encourage every dog owner to start their puppies off in the crate!”– Robert Cabral

10 tips to successful crate training
I prefer a wire crate so the dog will be able to see his or her surroundings.
Make crate training a game and your dog will love to play along.
Don't rush "closing the door." Your dog should want to get INTO the crate, not out!
Use lots of treats, rewards and praise when your dog is in the crate, make that an event!
Keep the training short and successful.
Feed your dog in the crate so he will associate it with a positive experience.
Don't open the crate door when the dog is acting up or barking. Wait for him to calm down first!
Try to teach the dog the crate a few times early in the day before expecting your dog to sleep in the crate.
Always give your dog plenty of potty breaks so that they won't mess in the crate.
Properly size your crate. A crate that is too big will defeat the purpose.
Spend a few months teaching your dog structure through the use of a crate and you'll have a lifetime of happiness with him!
