I have a 3 year old working line German Shepherd who is very anxious and is easily stressed. I though that working lines were supposed to have good temperaments. I’ve already had 3 trainers. Can you give me advice on what else I can do to help him.

Hello Mr.Robert Cabral first of all I want to say God bless all of your dogs. I have a 17 month old, male, German Shepherd with basic obedience and I am planning on getting a male European Doberman puppy; do you think that I can make it work as long as I impose strict discipline amongst the two?

I take my 1 year old American bully to tractor supply for baths. We have been doing this since he was 5 months. Today we had to wait for another dog to finish using the tub (they took a very long time so I trained and practice loose leash walking) I wish I kept this session shorter because we ended up trying to kill a half hour. Would short visits into and out of the store be best then a long duration? he did great but started to get tired and nervy, we tend to do short store trips for bathing

Hi Robert, my 1.5 YO dog, despite monthly groomer baths & regular home attempts since 3 months old, HATES baths & water despite all my attempts to form positive associations. He whines & tries to escape/jump out the tub non-stop, ignores high-value rewards like cream cheese (he’s a corgi!). Any concrete steps/exercises to overcome this? Is it possible to retrain him to tolerate or even enjoy baths one day?

I watched a video way back before, wherein if you grab your dog/puppy “while petting” by their muzzle it lets them know that you are the alpha. I just wonder if this is true? Can you also do a physical correction while grabbing their muzzle and say “no” (i just thought of it as a way to let them understand that they shouldn’t nipping or biting at you or to be quiet)

Hi Robert. My GSD is barking at my sister-in-law in the house. The dog is neutral towards other family members. Is my sister-in-law giving a vibe that the dog senses. She is over quite frequently. We are working on the place command and am building duration. Any suggestions for corrections and trainings to build a neutral relationship between my dog and sister-in-law.

Hi Robert! My 8m old GSD is obsessed w/other dogs. She has her play date with GSD male pup weekly, was socialized from early age and completely neutral with ppl. But once sees another dog, I don’t exist. We go on trails on long leash and inevitably meet other leashed dogs. I put her on the prong before they approach, step to the side to keep her in heel. She won’t pull when on prong and far enough but will go ballistic with her deep scary bark. Should i still have her on long leash to correct?

Thank you for your training videos and helping us make Sasha a wonderfully well behaved dog (while we are with her). Sasha is a 1.5yo spayed Belgian Mal. We adopted her at 7m (previous owner surrendered her due to Sasha sustaining extensive injuries from another dog in their home). We have patiently worked with her and other dogs and she is now great with them, but this kennel issue…. Do you think we could work on her being safe to leave roaming free in the home? If so, any strategies welcome!

Hi Robert, I’m following your lessons on reactivity & loose leash walking using a martingale with my 18mo GSD. She is listening better and our walks are improving. Progress falls apart walking with the bunnies, deer, coyotes, javalina around our property. If I see them 1st LEAVE IT or LETS GO keep her moving without bolting. If she sees them 1st she tries to bolt. She’ll smell the javalina and goes nuts pulling. Will a prong escalate her frustration? Really appreciate your time. Thank you.

Hey Robert, my 15 week GSD always wants to go and play with other dogs. Is there anything to gain by letting her go play? Or should I keep her with me? Thanks.

Kathy

How do I help/train my dog not to bark in the crate whenever I leave? He is a 5 month old GSD. He is fine in the crate when I am home. I live in an apartment.Love your videos. I apologize in advance if this was answered already .Sincerely,Kathy

Hi Robert, what do you suggest are some food or supplements that are good to boost a dog’s immune system? My Mal is recovering from pink eye and cornea laceration, and hookworms. Anything I can add onto her diet now would help? Thank you

Hi Robert, I remember you mentioned in a podcast just to let the dog “work through it” in reacting to a trigger versus immediately putting distance between your dog and the trigger where the latter would reinforce their reaction by doing a yo-yo effect. But then in another podcast was to give distance when there’s a reaction and work on moving closer avoiding reaction. I might have misunderstood both times so I’m unclear on which would be more correct. Could you elaborate on this? Thanks!

Do dogs go through stages were they will eat a lot of food then their appetite curves or changes, to not wanting to eat as much? My 10 month GSD, hasn’t been finishing or wanting her food, like she usually does. She seems to not be as hungry. I wasn’t sure if this was normal for all dogs to go through. What are other ways I can get her to take her vitamins & supplements when she doesn’t eat her meal. The vitamins & supplements are in powder form. I want to make sure she gets them every day.

Hey Robert really liked your Structure video and working on using structure in the pups feeding schedule. I have a 7-month old English Cocker Spaniel. He normally wakes up/howling exactly at 5am everyday to potty and sometimes he whines while waiting to 6am to eat, since he’s on a 12hr schedule. I give him snacks/treats through the day. How can I change his schedule pattern to wake up, potty and eat at 7 or 8 am as he gets older. Thanks for your advice.

Alex

My 5mo GSD has started to eat her own stool if I do not pick it up immediately in the back yard. What would you recommend I do?
