Hello Mr.Robert, I was just wondering how is the whole situation with Shannon and her store Bark n Bitches doing? I saw that her store is reopened once again. Does she have all of her dogs back?

Matthew

Hello Robert, I have been feeding my 4 month old malinois 3 times a day. Would it be alright if I just feed him at least 2 times a week during the day and night? Reason is because I wanted to make him hungry to build his drive up during our training, probably in the afternoon I’ll just use his toy as a reward. (People have told me also that this would affect his growth if you feed him 2 times a day for this age)

Naithan & Shadow

Morning Robert, Shadow has been barking more inside the house at people outside. I taught him a place and lie down command in hopes to “disable” the barking by giving him a task. He has started to bark while on the down position. I use a “uh huh” to stop that , but he still continues. He may stop for a little but when look the other way he barks. He technically is doing the correct place and down command, but not having the proper manners while doing so. What should I do?

When out for a walk with my 4 months old Groenendaler he listens well when not distracted. The moment he has something in his mouth or he spotted something interesting however, it is almost impossible to get his attention. No sounds, movements or corrections from my part will get him to listen to me. Will this get better as he gets older? What can I do to get him to pay attention without yanking his head off in the process?

Hi Robert. My dog loves sticks! Should I let her play with and chew sticks? I’ve read that sticks can be dangerous for dogs as they can get lodged in their mouths or caught in teeth creating dental problems? At the same time I don’t want to be the overprotective parent. Dogs should be dogs. Any advice?

(Doesn’t help that I had a tree fall down in my backyard due to a storm a month ago, sticks galore!)

Hi Robert, I think you may have touched on this before. I know that puppy socialization is a huge part to their success. Do you think that puppy training classes where I live, combined with individual training using your videos is a good idea? I was wondering if being around the other puppies would help with socialization. Or if it would be better to just work with the dog on my own? Thanks for all of your great advice!!

Hello Robert, I’m working with Esh my two year old Belgian Malinois to lower his aggression outbursts on other dogs. He is doing much better. Esh is a great loving dog, here comes the big BUT… when he sees another dog he goes to a high alert. I was bitten so many times when he redirects his frustration at me. I now walk him with a muzzle, prong collar, ecollar and pet convincer. Is it ok for him to bark once or twice when he sees another rude dog? his nemesis is a 10 lb bichon frise…

Hi Robert, the prong collar has been a life saver for my 2yr old adopted, skittish, shy dog. we’ve been able to communicate with him effectively, deliver precisely timed corrections and provide him the structure he needs. However I’m wondering if there is a point at which he will not need the prong anymore and the good behaviors are ingrained enough to phase it out. What are your thoughts on this?

Alex

My 6mo old GSD puppy is starting to lunge at cars driving by and has also become a little skittish towards them. Would introducing her to a prong collar be a solution.

Hi Robert, my puppy does down and stands fine if I am right in front of her but she moves forward when I am far away. Is a raised platform my only solution to this? Also at what point can I start to remove my lure hand from the back command and stay still (as you do). She goes back as long as I am moving into her, but not if I stay still. Thanks!

Fairly new member such awesome content!! I will be getting a Cane Corso puppy in April. I will be diligently training him every day and have been preparing for about a year learning all I can. He will be a family companion but I want to teach him to bark on command and guard my youngest son as he’s home a lot by himself. ?? My question is with the natural instincts of the breed do I need to be training bite work to get him to engage in barking at something and guarding or is it possible without.

Thanks for the info for waiting to use the E-collar as the icing on the cake and not to rush into it. My 2 year old german shepherd has some basic obedience and seems to respond very well to me. I don’t feel like he respects anyone BUT ME. The other day my pregnant wife and I were playing fetch with him. When my wife went for the ball he growled at her. Will adding more of your structure resolve his attitude of respect towards others?

Nick

Hey Robert looking for some advice on training my 7 month English Cocker Spaniel. He does really well with training in familiar environments. He just started an obedience class dealing with several factors: at night, in a parking lot, with other dogs and people. He at times gets so excited that he pants heavily and loses focus on executing commands such as heeling. Will this behavior stop eventually and would it help to change from a martingale to a prong collar to help control this? Thanks!
